Enlightenment and Emotional Awareness

Megan interviewed Theresa Contaxis, who shared her views on enlightenment. Theresa’s believes that enlightenment is the understanding that we are all connected and part of everything. She also emphasized the importance of recognizing our emotions and bypassing them to know the truth. The discussion concluded with Theresa’s sharing a motto from the movie ‘Miracle on 34th Street’ that she was given and how she applied it in her life.

Theresa’s Book Journey

Theresa’s shared her journey of how she came to write her book, “The Littlest Sailboat.” She mentioned her struggles with dyslexia and her vocabulary, and how she was encouraged by a Shaman and a tarot card reader to start writing. She also discussed her experiences with spirituality and how they led her to write the book. The book was a result of 10 years of exploration and growth, and it only took two months to write.

Ocean, Sailboat, and Spirituality: A Literary Discussion

Megan and Theresa’s discussed the metaphorical use of the ocean and sailboat in literature, with a focus on the book “The Little Sailboat.” They agreed on the power of the ocean as a metaphor for spirituality and the universal struggles faced by everyone. They also touched on the theme of letting go and the idea of choosing one’s spiritual awakening. Towards the end, they decided to read a few pages from the middle of the book and then discuss it further.

Theresa’s Sailboat Journey

Theresa shared her life story and journey as the metaphorical little sailboat. She was created approximately 6 decades ago and was told she had come out of the depths of the ocean. She was initially fearful and jealous of the bigger and better boats around her. She worked hard to become ready to go out on her own. After years of searching for her identity, she decided to go for a sail to think about everything. She tried to go against the wind, but it only left her tired and frustrated. A big wave turned her over and she filled with water. However, a blast of wind picked her up and brought her back to shore. She headed back to shore, feeling that something had changed within her. She expressed her desire to learn and understand the ocean. She ended her story with anticipation for what the future holds.

Embracing Interconnectedness: A Journey With Dreams

Theresa’s shared her personal experiences and philosophy, emphasizing the interconnectedness of all things and the importance of embracing life’s journey. Megan discussed the metaphor of the ocean as a guide for life. They also talked about the significance of dreams and the importance of journaling them. Theresa liked Megan’s recommendation to keep a phone nearby to quickly record dreams before they fade from memory.

Dreams as Communication: A Conversation on Love and Transformation

Theresa’s and Megan discussed the importance of dreams as a means of communication from the authentic self. They emphasized that dreams can be understood through personal interpretation and shared experiences, and can offer guidance and transformation. The conversation also touched on the concept of universal love and the importance of considering multiple perspectives. The key takeaways from the discussion were to trust and interpret dreams, choose love, and remember that one is loved.

00:00:02.710 –> 00:00:30.659
Megan Mary: Welcome to day. We have Theresa Contaxis, author of the Littlest Sail Boat, A Journey of the Soul, a mother of 3 Contaxis studied under a nun, multiple energy workers, James Twyman and 2 shamans for 2 years before becoming a reverend of all Faiths Seminary, International. She has studied mysticism from various spiritual leaders, and her writings reflect her spiritual evolution.

2
00:00:30.670 –> 00:00:32.159
Megan Mary: Welcome, Theresa!

3
00:00:32.330 –> 00:00:35.510
Theresa Contaxis: Hi! It’s so. I’m so happy to be here with you.

4
00:00:35.820 –> 00:00:42.650
Megan Mary: Awesome. Well, the first question that I ask everyone is, what does enlightenment mean to you?

5
00:00:43.110 –> 00:00:50.620
Theresa Contaxis: You know, when you told me that was a question you were gonna ask. It really made me think, because, okay, so what does it mean to me?

6
00:00:51.340 –> 00:01:03.899
Theresa Contaxis: I know I’ve awakened, but I can also say I’m not necessarily totally enlightened, which is very hard to get to. I found a poem that, I think explains it the best

7
00:01:04.739 –> 00:01:06.059
Theresa Contaxis: “Nn the market

8
00:01:06.240 –> 00:01:11.940
Theresa Contaxis: in the cloister. Only God, I saw. In the valley on the mountain.

9
00:01:11.970 –> 00:01:16.250
Theresa Contaxis: Only God I saw, Spirit change the word to whatever you want

10
00:01:16.870 –> 00:01:21.049
Theresa Contaxis: in favor and in fortune only spirit I saw

11
00:01:21.290 –> 00:01:26.009
Theresa Contaxis: in prayer and in fasting, in praise and contemplation.

12
00:01:26.120 –> 00:01:28.320
Theresa Contaxis: only spirit I saw

13
00:01:28.610 –> 00:01:36.340
Theresa Contaxis: like a candle, I was melting in his fire amidst the flames only spirit I saw.

14
00:01:36.690 –> 00:01:42.579
Theresa Contaxis: my own eyes I saw most clearly, but when I looked with spirits, eyes

15
00:01:42.590 –> 00:01:49.230
Theresa Contaxis: only spirit I saw. I passed away in nothingness. I vanished.

16
00:01:50.790 –> 00:01:52.840
Theresa Contaxis: Only spirit I saw.”

17
00:01:53.830 –> 00:01:59.049
Theresa Contaxis: that since enlightenment is when you understand, you’re not separate.

18
00:01:59.470 –> 00:02:02.300
Theresa Contaxis: You’re part of everything. You’re part of all

19
00:02:02.530 –> 00:02:09.099
Theresa Contaxis: a rock, a tree. We’re energy, that’s what we are, and everything has energy, a rock.

20
00:02:09.620 –> 00:02:16.919
Theresa Contaxis: a little speck of sand. It’s all the same. it’s all part of one.

21
00:02:19.160 –> 00:02:41.000
Megan Mary: Yes, that’s very profound. II thank you for sharing that I agree it’s awakening to understanding that we’re all connected, and that we are all spirit. That spirit isn’t something out there or up there down there. It’s in us and around us all the time and in everything.

22
00:02:41.300 –> 00:02:55.039
Theresa Contaxis: And I think all of us has moments where we feel that it could be as something as simple of. I think I’m gonna call somebody. And you place the call, I think. Oh, my God, I really need to hear your voice today, it’s like.

23
00:02:55.240 –> 00:02:57.610
Theresa Contaxis: at that moment, you knew that connection.

24
00:02:58.560 –> 00:03:03.750
Theresa Contaxis: Enlightenment is when you know it at every moment in every second

25
00:03:04.620 –> 00:03:12.970
Megan Mary: yeah, and there’s no roller coaster of the up and down of the

26
00:03:12.980 –> 00:03:24.430
Megan Mary: I think I get it now. I feel like I I’ve I’ve overcome everything, and then you’re completely low and down in the dumps, and depressed and lonely, and then you’re back up, and then you’re back down. And

27
00:03:24.440 –> 00:03:29.260
Megan Mary: so enlightenment is kind of, I think, surpassing that up and down

28
00:03:29.550 –> 00:03:34.990
Theresa Contaxis: it. I don’t know if you ever totally surpassed it, but the moment it starts happening

29
00:03:35.870 –> 00:03:41.400
Theresa Contaxis: there’s that realization that that’s not true like that is just your emotions.

30
00:03:41.450 –> 00:03:48.300
Theresa Contaxis: and you can immediately bypass it and know truth. And and I think it’s just total training.

31
00:03:48.390 –> 00:03:52.329
Megan Mary: I know I’ve been going through that right now in my life of the

32
00:03:52.760 –> 00:04:03.779
Theresa Contaxis: I went so into my emotions recently. And and it was like, Okay, okay, find something. And it was funny what I was given. It was a motto.

33
00:04:03.970 –> 00:04:07.050
Theresa Contaxis: and it was so simple. And it came from

34
00:04:07.170 –> 00:04:26.930
Theresa Contaxis: a a movie that I saw. And it was just this a simple line about, I believe. Oh, it was from miracle on 34th Street, with a little child is going, and like now she’s trying to believe in Santa Claus, because she and she’s trying, and all she’s doing is going, I believe.

35
00:04:26.930 –> 00:04:37.790
Theresa Contaxis: I believe I believe, and she just holds to it. And so I’m like, okay, it’s more than believe I know. I know, I know, and tried to hold to it

36
00:04:39.140 –> 00:04:42.980
Theresa Contaxis: and not let the record player go. Yum, yum.

37
00:04:44.750 –> 00:04:49.630
right? Yes, spiritual intelligence. And over emotional.

38
00:04:49.930 –> 00:04:57.509
Megan Mary: Okay, not emotional intelligence. But just yeah. Recognizing the emotions is really important in terms of whether you

39
00:04:58.030 –> 00:05:08.870
Megan Mary: let your intuition rule your perspective on a situation or your emotional egoic reaction.

40
00:05:09.180 –> 00:05:14.849
Theresa Contaxis: Yeah. your ego lovely thing I call screaming Mimi.

41
00:05:15.080 –> 00:05:16.910
Megan Mary: Right? Yes.

42
00:05:17.840 –> 00:05:29.699
Megan Mary: So tell the audience a little bit about your background, how you came to write the book, the littlest sail boat, and then I’m going to have you read a

43
00:05:30.030 –> 00:05:32.329
Megan Mary: portion of it for for everyone.

44
00:05:32.500 –> 00:05:38.640
Theresa Contaxis: Well, the way this sailboat actually got born was over Probably 10 years

45
00:05:39.000 –> 00:05:41.680
Theresa Contaxis: I was. I’m I’m dyslexic.

46
00:05:42.240 –> 00:05:53.040
Theresa Contaxis: and my vocabulary is quite small, you know. I like little words. My my older daughter talks to me with these big words, and I almost need a translator.

47
00:05:53.170 –> 00:06:12.489
Theresa Contaxis: I always say English is my second language, and I don’t have a first but what happened is, I was working with the shaman the first time when I was like, let’s see what this is about, and I had a session with Shaman, and at the end of the session she said to me, spirit has never given this to me before.

48
00:06:12.580 –> 00:06:17.250
Theresa Contaxis: But I’ll tell you what I hear. Stop reading and start writing.

49
00:06:17.700 –> 00:06:27.699
Theresa Contaxis: and I sort of threw it aside because this was my first experience outside a Christian area. But I decided it was time to start exploring

50
00:06:28.240 –> 00:06:30.320
Theresa Contaxis: all sorts of things, cause I

51
00:06:31.470 –> 00:06:44.270
Theresa Contaxis: spirit God, divine source Universe shows itself up to you any way it can. and it will talk in the language that you can understand. And I wanted to understand more languages, so to speak.

52
00:06:44.810 –> 00:06:46.280
Theresa Contaxis: So then

53
00:06:46.780 –> 00:06:55.389
Theresa Contaxis: time goes by, and I’m with at that time it was James Wanless. He’s tarot card reader. He made his own deck.

54
00:06:55.710 –> 00:07:09.790
Theresa Contaxis: and he had. I had a session with him, and he said to me. You’re to start writing. And I went. Well, I’ve been told that before. But yeah, no. And he said, No, just do something. You need to start writing.

55
00:07:10.010 –> 00:07:27.970
Theresa Contaxis: And I thought, Okay, put it in the banks. But I’m still sort of poo pooing. Yeah, not me. I can’t do that. Who am I? You know. Who am I to write something like that ego going? So then I started the All Faiths Seminary, and I found out what our final paper.

56
00:07:28.090 –> 00:07:32.609
Theresa Contaxis: what our final thing had to be on, and what would our

57
00:07:32.980 –> 00:07:53.959
Theresa Contaxis: mission, or what would our ministry look like if we had any amount of money in the world to do what we wanted to do. And I thought, Okay, this is bad, because I’m not in this For that reason I wanted to study, or I really just all I wanted to do was grow. You know I’m a sponge. Just want more more.

58
00:07:54.320 –> 00:08:01.200
Theresa Contaxis: So I called the head of the school, and I said, I can’t do this. I there’s no ministry that I’m looking at.

59
00:08:01.330 –> 00:08:11.889
Theresa Contaxis: And she said no, and that was the day the book was born I went. Well, I’m just like a little sailboat that just sales in and out of lives as I’m needed.

60
00:08:12.750 –> 00:08:15.030
Theresa Contaxis: and that’s how the book was born.

61
00:08:15.050 –> 00:08:17.050
Theresa Contaxis: and once

62
00:08:17.170 –> 00:08:24.709
Theresa Contaxis: it so in some ways the book only took 2 months to write in other ways. The book took 10 years.

63
00:08:25.140 –> 00:08:27.180
Megan Mary: Yes, oh, I know how that is.

64
00:08:29.280 –> 00:08:46.490
Megan Mary: Yes, I started around my novel 10 years ago, and just just finishing it now. So yes, I think I think everybody has a book inside them, and it just takes the right recipe of of circumstances for it to come into the tangible physical world.

65
00:08:46.720 –> 00:08:47.440
Yes.

66
00:08:47.910 –> 00:09:02.329
Megan Mary: So what I love about the book. The littlest sailboat is the metaphor, because, as you know, when I work with dreams, one of the major parts of my method is metaphor, and

67
00:09:02.390 –> 00:09:19.340
Megan Mary: that is because I believe that our dreams are stories, and that there’s so much power in metaphor. So I really like how the book uses the ocean and the sailboat as metaphors for spirituality. So talk a little bit about that.

68
00:09:20.080 –> 00:09:20.840
Theresa Contaxis: Well.

69
00:09:20.960 –> 00:09:26.230
Theresa Contaxis: you know, when I this is changing the subject, but really not.

70
00:09:26.440 –> 00:09:38.039
Theresa Contaxis: I have built 3 houses. We’ve built 3 houses, and each time when it was done people would say, Oh, I love how this works together, and how you chose That is that going? Oh.

71
00:09:38.700 –> 00:09:40.880
Theresa Contaxis: I didn’t even notice I did that.

72
00:09:41.700 –> 00:09:51.249
Theresa Contaxis: and so came from deep within that even not I didn’t. From outside of myself I didn’t recognize it was more of an internal thing.

73
00:09:51.460 –> 00:09:56.570
Theresa Contaxis: and the sailboat is sort of the same thing. II knew

74
00:09:57.510 –> 00:10:14.530
Theresa Contaxis: for me God, Abba, but source, divine Spirit. II knew the ocean to me was more of it than anything else I could relate to. And now here I already said I was like a little sailboat sailing in and out of people’s lives.

75
00:10:14.880 –> 00:10:26.199
Theresa Contaxis: The ocean is so vast, and so we have, you know, as much knowledge as we have. We have no knowledge of the ocean in the depth, depth, depths of the ocean.

76
00:10:27.130 –> 00:10:35.139
Theresa Contaxis: and it just seemed to be to me, and I love the ocean. I love being on the ocean. I love being by the water. It

77
00:10:35.500 –> 00:10:44.540
Theresa Contaxis: it is to me the most peaceful place to be. even when the storms are rough. it’s somehow still to me

78
00:10:44.700 –> 00:10:47.599
Theresa Contaxis: provides peace. So to me that became it.

79
00:10:49.200 –> 00:10:52.299
Megan Mary: Yes, I agree with you, but I think it’s the.

80
00:10:52.780 –> 00:11:06.780
Megan Mary: It’s the energy of the water, and some of us are very drawn to that I mean, we are all water right, but some more than others are very drawn to that energy and feel very

81
00:11:07.230 –> 00:11:10.459
Megan Mary: connected when they’re near it.

82
00:11:10.800 –> 00:11:27.320
Megan Mary: And so I really like also the other themes that are intertwined in that. This the discussion around just the universal struggle that everyone goes through, and

83
00:11:27.440 –> 00:11:29.899
Megan Mary: also the the power of letting go.

84
00:11:30.470 –> 00:11:38.749
egan Mary: which has a very common theme in a lot of metaphorical books that I’ve read that is always

85
00:11:38.990 –> 00:12:04.109
Megan Mary: always very poignant, especially at this time of year, when we have when it’s fall, and we’re going through that transition in nature where we’re watching the the harvest and the death, and then waiting for that kind of dormancy period and the rebirthing, and you know it also. Is part of our season right? And how we

86
00:12:05.200 –> 00:12:13.409
Megan Mary: kind of go through a rebirthing at every year. We have that opportunity with the with the seasons. So

87
00:12:13.640 –> 00:12:16.149
Megan Mary: I really enjoy that aspect.

88
00:12:16.400 –> 00:12:19.620
Theresa Contaxis: the perfect word you just said, opportunity

89
00:12:19.770 –> 00:12:22.689
Theresa Contaxis: we choose. We can choose it, or we can ignore it.

90
00:12:23.340 –> 00:12:31.059
Megan Mary: Yes, absolutely. And that that goes for all, all spiritual awakening. Right? Because.

91
00:12:31.420 –> 00:12:37.939
Megan Mary: it’s around everyone. But a lot of people just want to ignore it, and that goes the same for dreams.

92
00:12:38.150 –> 00:12:58.879
Megan Mary: because so many people say, well, I don’t dream I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t have dreams, and they do. They’re just subconsciously ignoring them somehow, somewhere along the way, decided subconsciously. They didn’t wanna hear what was coming from that part of themselves.

93
00:12:58.980 –> 00:13:03.049
Megan Mary: So it does involve a willingness

94
00:13:03.340 –> 00:13:07.380
Megan Mary: to listen and tune in to that.

95
00:13:07.780 –> 00:13:08.460
Theresa Contaxis: Yeah.

96
00:13:10.980 –> 00:13:14.530
Megan Mary: so talk a little bit about your experience.

97
00:13:14.940 –> 00:13:32.950
Megan Mary: when you wrote this book. Yeah. I also would like you to read a a little excerpt if you if you would. Yeah, maybe we’ll do that first, and then we’ll talk about it.

98
00:13:33.220 –> 00:13:38.489
Theresa Contaxis: page or 2 from the middle, and I would love to share the end.

99
00:13:38.810 –> 00:13:41.220
Theresa Contaxis: Okay. So

100
00:13:46.210 –> 00:13:54.289
Theresa Contaxis: as I sail out of the harbour, I look forward to where I will be heading next. no longer afraid of what is in store for me.

101
00:13:54.480 –> 00:13:56.840
Theresa Contaxis: Where is the wind taking me now?

102
00:13:56.890 –> 00:13:58.919
Theresa Contaxis: Don’t know. Don’t care

103
00:13:59.360 –> 00:14:02.039
Theresa Contaxis: wherever the wind takes me is perfect.

104
00:14:02.410 –> 00:14:06.749
Theresa Contaxis: Oh, I’m sorry I didn’t realize you haven’t heard of me.

105
00:14:07.020 –> 00:14:13.100
Theresa Contaxis: I thought you knew my story. Let me introduce myself. I’m the littlest sailboat.

106
00:14:13.930 –> 00:14:22.279
Theresa Contaxis: I was created approximately 6 decades ago in Earth years, but was told I had been around much longer.

107
00:14:22.460 –> 00:14:29.920
Theresa Contaxis: I was told I had come out of the depths of the ocean with the perfect visual representation of myself.

108
00:14:30.610 –> 00:14:42.599
Theresa Contaxis: When I first came into this vessel. I had a beautiful white sail and a purple hole. I was always around older boats who tried to help me grow until I was ready to go out on my own.

109
00:14:42.880 –> 00:14:46.730
Theresa Contaxis: I had no idea what that meant or what I wish to do.

110
00:14:47.470 –> 00:15:04.489
Theresa Contaxis: I became fearful because I thought I had to do this journey all alone. I was told to work hard so they would be better than other boats. That was truly frightening, because I saw so many boats that looked bigger and better than me.

111
00:15:05.000 –> 00:15:09.779
Theresa Contaxis: I didn’t even have a motor. I became jealous of many boats.

112
00:15:09.810 –> 00:15:14.940
Theresa Contaxis: I would look at them, and I would always think they were more special than me.

113
00:15:15.110 –> 00:15:20.050
Theresa Contaxis: I saw steamboats, tugboats in other boats. My favorite

114
00:15:20.060 –> 00:15:31.769
Theresa Contaxis: was cruise liners. I go on to how I was jealous of all the other boats, and how other boats scared me like destroyers, and all the different boats

115
00:15:32.650 –> 00:15:38.379
Theresa Contaxis: over the years I completely lost sight of. Who I was did I ever really know?

116
00:15:38.580 –> 00:15:49.280
Theresa Contaxis: Perhaps not since I was searching everywhere else, but in the right place to find myself. I decided to go for a sail, to think about everything.

117
00:15:49.490 –> 00:15:55.550
Theresa Contaxis: I did not want to be in pain any more. There must be a better way, I told myself.

118
00:15:55.940 –> 00:16:10.950
Theresa Contaxis: The wind was blowing strong, but I did not want to go the way it was blowing. I tried to go against the wind, but all that fighting was just making me tired, frustrated, and eventually so weak that I could not fight any more.

119
00:16:11.210 –> 00:16:15.539
Theresa Contaxis: I was so weak that I did not have the strength to move.

120
00:16:16.150 –> 00:16:24.030
Theresa Contaxis: Suddenly a big wave came and turned me over, I began to fill with water, and was being swallowed up by the ocean.

121
00:16:24.240 –> 00:16:26.790
Theresa Contaxis: but I was too exhausted to care.

122
00:16:26.900 –> 00:16:31.650
Theresa Contaxis: To my surprise a huge blast of wind came and picked me up.

123
00:16:32.040 –> 00:16:44.069
Theresa Contaxis: I was so tired I just slept. I was not even sure for how long. When I awoke the water was calm. and the wind was blowing ever so gently

124
00:16:44.410 –> 00:16:51.740
Theresa Contaxis: within my hole. There was some of the ocean, I thought. How interesting! Having the ocean water within me!

125
00:16:51.940 –> 00:17:03.760
Theresa Contaxis: I’ve been told before that I came from the depths of the ocean, though that never seemed to make any sense to me. Yet here I was, floating in the ocean with some of the ocean inside me

126
00:17:03.950 –> 00:17:18.350
Theresa Contaxis: that had to mean something important. but I wasn’t sure what. so I headed back to shore, knowing something had changed. My life seemed to be the same on the outside. I still had all the barnacles on me in the dirty sail.

127
00:17:18.490 –> 00:17:20.410
Theresa Contaxis: but something was different.

128
00:17:20.790 –> 00:17:24.580
Theresa Contaxis: I desired to learn to understand the ocean.

129
00:17:25.950 –> 00:17:27.649
Theresa Contaxis: and that towards the end

130
00:17:28.590 –> 00:17:33.469
Theresa Contaxis: I was awestruck that the great ocean trusted me to do. My part.

131
00:17:33.620 –> 00:17:39.489
Theresa Contaxis: became excited every day, wondering where I was going and what I was going to do.

132
00:17:39.740 –> 00:17:50.679
Theresa Contaxis: As I said in the beginning I did not know where the wind was taking me didn’t know, didn’t care. There’s so much I went through, and there’s so much ahead

133
00:17:50.710 –> 00:17:55.389
Theresa Contaxis: I love to share, because we all have difficult times and beautiful times.

134
00:17:55.550 –> 00:18:00.229
Theresa Contaxis: We all go through the journey differently, but end up in the same place.

135
00:18:00.460 –> 00:18:09.830
Theresa Contaxis: We all come out of the depths of the ocean, and return to the ocean. As all of us are part of the ocean, we are not alone.

136
00:18:09.900 –> 00:18:18.840
Theresa Contaxis: we not only have each other, we are part of each other. We are part of everything. I came into this life and experienced loneliness.

137
00:18:18.910 –> 00:18:22.650
Theresa Contaxis: and I have learned I am not alone, but part of the All.

138
00:18:22.680 –> 00:18:32.779
Theresa Contaxis: Just as you are. I have so many stories to share about the ocean and the love that is shared with me. I know the ocean and the wind will keep teaching me.

139
00:18:32.910 –> 00:18:36.599
Theresa Contaxis: This is not the end of my story. It’s just the beginning.

140
00:18:36.860 –> 00:18:41.040
Theresa Contaxis: and there’s so much more to discover along the way.

141
00:18:44.120 –> 00:18:59.120
Megan Mary: Thank you for reading that and sharing that. I think it’s so just. really powerful, and such a powerful metaphor for all of our struggles in life. How we

142
00:18:59.250 –> 00:19:18.970
Megan Mary: many times do feel like the little sailboat with no motor, and get get that imposter syndrome from the larger boats, and don’t really understand what direction we’re going in and don’t really fight against the the elements really, instead of letting them guide us and

143
00:19:19.130 –> 00:19:24.640
Megan Mary: understanding our own inner guidance that we don’t even need that superficial motor?

144
00:19:24.670 –> 00:19:26.950
Theresa Contaxis: Yes.

145
00:19:27.630 –> 00:19:30.690
Megan Mary: yeah. So I really like that.

146
00:19:31.620 –> 00:19:33.509
Theresa Contaxis: So thank you for sharing.

147
00:19:35.330 –> 00:19:57.709
Megan Mary: We had discussed before. Also your experience with dreams, and I know a lot of writers, myself included. Get inspiration from their dreams. And you had mentioned that you really recently started keeping a dream journal. Tell the audience a little bit about your experience when you started doing that.

148
00:19:58.060 –> 00:20:06.530
Theresa Contaxis: Well, I when I I first started taking a lot of journals down because I was dreaming a lot when my kids were young.

149
00:20:06.790 –> 00:20:18.619
Theresa Contaxis: I think it was because whatever winds or spirit could not get my attention during the day, because I was too busy. So it came through at night, so my higher self.

150
00:20:18.870 –> 00:20:24.849
Theresa Contaxis: my authentic self, talk to me a lot at night. So at that time I took it. II wrote down a lot.

151
00:20:25.120 –> 00:20:34.480
Theresa Contaxis: Then, when I had the time where I was doing a lot of it during the day, I stopped journaling, and then all of a sudden, one day I realized I was missing my dreams

152
00:20:34.960 –> 00:20:41.949
Theresa Contaxis: like I knew I was having them, and when I was having them they were great and

153
00:20:42.160 –> 00:20:54.510
Theresa Contaxis: but I stopped journaling it. So if you don’t journal they go away too fast. They just you’ll wake up and go. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. It was great. What was it? And I would forget.

154
00:20:54.620 –> 00:20:57.959
Theresa Contaxis: So you gave the great idea of

155
00:20:57.990 –> 00:21:07.959
Theresa Contaxis: having your phone by the bed because part of my problem was I’d get up and write it down in complete detail, and then I couldn’t go back to sleep.

156
00:21:08.320 –> 00:21:18.639
Theresa Contaxis: So you gave the suggestion of having the phone by your bed, and you know, if you’re if you’re with somebody, my husband, I could get up and just in the bathroom and

157
00:21:18.680 –> 00:21:29.910
Theresa Contaxis: just say a couple of things about the dream that will trigger the dream to come back when you’re awake, and then write it down in detail. So that is where I’ve been going lately.

158
00:21:29.950 –> 00:21:31.600
Megan Mary: And

159
00:21:31.980 –> 00:21:36.599
Theresa Contaxis: it’s really helpful. And one of the things I find very interesting about dreams

160
00:21:36.740 –> 00:21:57.050
Theresa Contaxis: for me is that dreams talk to you from your authentic self, the way you can understand it. And the way I know that’s really true is, I’ve listened to different mystics from different religions, different belief systems. And I’d always go. But wait a minute. How can somebody have seen this when it doesn’t match with that?

161
00:21:57.630 –> 00:22:08.280
Theresa Contaxis: Because it doesn’t have to match. You’re getting a message that you’ll understand that you will understand. I mean, if I got a dream in in Russian I would have no clue. What happened

162
00:22:08.440 –> 00:22:11.919
Theresa Contaxis: but dream in English. I understand what’s happening

163
00:22:12.000 –> 00:22:16.740
Theresa Contaxis: just like if I got a dream from certain

164
00:22:17.180 –> 00:22:24.760
Theresa Contaxis: standpoint, spiritually, I might not have any clue what like in some traditions, snakes are good

165
00:22:24.850 –> 00:22:39.390
Theresa Contaxis: from the traditions I had come from. Snakes are not good. So snake, in that it was supposedly this really good dream, like from a different tradition, I would be like going. Oh, my God, no, you know so it it

166
00:22:39.840 –> 00:22:42.160
Theresa Contaxis: you get talked to the way you see it.

167
00:22:42.580 –> 00:23:10.569
Megan Mary: Yeah, that’s a really good example. And II use snakes quite often when people ask, I always talk about discarding your dream dictionary for that reason, because most people, when they’re trying to figure out their dreams, they go to a dream dictionary. They do the A to Z thing. They look up one thing and another thing based on the first letter and snakes is a great example, so they’ll look up snakes, and they’ll say, Oh, it’s a bad omen. Oh, it’s this or that, and I really don’t

168
00:23:10.710 –> 00:23:23.080
Megan Mary: subscribe to that at all. I believe that it’s coming from your higher self. It’s coming from your subconscious. So it’s representation is completely dictated by your experience, your associations, your

169
00:23:23.300 –> 00:23:24.770
Megan Mary: subconscious.

170
00:23:25.010 –> 00:23:35.800
Theresa Contaxis: because in Buddhism it’s not an evil thing that the snake thing is evil from a Christian tradition. But that doesn’t mean it is. So you have to look into it further.

171
00:23:36.200 –> 00:23:49.299
Megan Mary: Yeah. Yeah. And it it really is. Whatever you’ve compiled in your database from your life experience as well as possibly past lives where wherever your spirit came from.

172
00:23:49.400 –> 00:23:58.300
Theresa Contaxis: Well, in Shamanism you know the snake the serpent is is something to be honored because it’s about peeling off the old layer of skin.

173
00:23:58.380 –> 00:24:06.880
Megan Mary: Yes, a snake can represent that you’re peeling off a layer transformation regeneration.

174
00:24:07.380 –> 00:24:27.609
Megan Mary: So many things. Yeah. And II think people get caught up in the archetypal traditional description of certain dream themes and don’t allow the possibility of their own personal dream language to come through.

175
00:24:28.250 –> 00:24:35.050
Theresa Contaxis: Yeah. And that’s a process of learning. And I think the only way you could do that is by what you said.

176
00:24:35.450 –> 00:24:41.250
Theresa Contaxis: Write em down, speak em into your phone, whatever you have to do, but you have to find the

177
00:24:41.720 –> 00:24:46.679
Theresa Contaxis: the common thread. Yes. what? What? You’re being told.

178
00:24:47.000 –> 00:24:57.660
Megan Mary: And also, I think, there’s 2 parts to a dream appreciation. So appreciating your dreams realizing that they do hold information for you, and that they are worth

179
00:24:57.720 –> 00:25:20.550
spending time with and trying to capture, and then also dream sharing. Because when you start to discuss it with someone else. It takes on a whole other aspect, and many times that can evolve it into encouragement for them to then start to talk about theirs, and it creates a space

180
00:25:20.570 –> 00:25:30.009
Megan Mary: for people to share, and when you share, you start to have even more A-ha’s, as you have to verbalize.

181
00:25:30.120 –> 00:25:34.500
Theresa Contaxis: I had a dream many years ago. I can’t remember it now.

182
00:25:34.800 –> 00:25:43.110
Theresa Contaxis: but I told somebody a minister about the dream. and because I thought it was just for me.

183
00:25:43.390 –> 00:26:01.879
Theresa Contaxis: and he had his Aha! Moment that the dream was for him. and then he went to a minister above him and told that minister the dream, because of how it affected him, and that minister also had an Aha moment and felt the dream was for him.

184
00:26:02.770 –> 00:26:05.559
Theresa Contaxis: It that’s what the sharing does

185
00:26:05.730 –> 00:26:35.219
Megan Mary: right, and I mean the fact that you felt compelled to tell him is obviously was information that was from that universal self that had that significance many times when I do live events, and I do oracle card readings. And there’s 80 or 100 people in the in the room multiple people will say, Well, wait a minute. I think that one was for me, and it’s like, well, it is.

186
00:26:35.330 –> 00:26:45.279
Megan Mary: It’s not just for the one person that requested it. Because you’re here. You’re listening, and all of your energy is being shared, and you’re all sending a message

187
00:26:45.290 –> 00:26:48.419
Theresa Contaxis: it all goes back to. We are one right.

188
00:26:49.330 –> 00:26:50.520
Megan Mary: very much so.

189
00:26:54.870 –> 00:27:01.359
Megan Mary: which is a beautiful sentiment. and I think if we can all start to

190
00:27:03.770 –> 00:27:12.590
Megan Mary: integrate that into the way we approach life. it can really change our perspective on life.

191
00:27:13.800 –> 00:27:18.349
Theresa Contaxis: My first mystic teacher was a nun, as you know.

192
00:27:18.470 –> 00:27:28.890
Theresa Contaxis: and I don’t necessarily. And I’ve had other teachers where I’m not. I don’t necessarily subscribe to how they said something.

193
00:27:29.150 –> 00:27:38.279
Theresa Contaxis: but there’s so much truth in it, just like, you know, we talked about different languages. So which she had said one time was.

194
00:27:38.310 –> 00:27:41.630
Theresa Contaxis: I just lost my train of thought absolutely completely.

195
00:27:41.960 –> 00:27:47.439
But she she was so incredible at the way she taught it.

196
00:27:47.560 –> 00:27:50.549
Theresa Contaxis: and she had so much to say, and it was very

197
00:27:50.810 –> 00:28:02.189
Theresa Contaxis: Catholic the way she spoke, of course. but she she had expressions, and I’m changing the way I’m going, cause I forgot what I was gonna say, but she had a saying that I loved.

198
00:28:03.350 –> 00:28:06.829
Theresa Contaxis: Read it all. Eat the meat and Throw out the fat.

199
00:28:09.280 –> 00:28:32.690
Theresa Contaxis: Okay? And I think that’s beautiful. It’s like, don’t shut other things out because you say you don’t believe in it. It’s sort of isn’t that what we do now? Whether it’s on the Internet, whether whatever we read, what we already believe in, and we subscribe to that, whether it’s politics or no matter what it is on this. So you read everything to support

200
00:28:32.740 –> 00:28:45.120
Theresa Contaxis: that point of view instead of challenging yourself. Read it, eat the meat, just swallow that meat and get rid of the fat. You don’t have to agree with everything, but you’re going to find truth in everything.

201
00:28:45.980 –> 00:28:48.879
Theresa Contaxis: So to get truth, which is love, that’s

202
00:28:48.890 –> 00:28:55.060
Theresa Contaxis: truth is love. That’s the one thing it’s either love or fear. I pick love, though I operate out of fear

203
00:28:55.870 –> 00:29:00.649
Theresa Contaxis: quite often right now at times, but it’s it is love

204
00:29:00.690 –> 00:29:10.420
Theresa Contaxis: and and to shut off other possibilities. I mean, if God universe, I mean, think about the universe, think about expansive, it is.

205
00:29:10.460 –> 00:29:16.290
Theresa Contaxis: How can you just go. It’s this. when it’s this

206
00:29:16.850 –> 00:29:36.199
Theresa Contaxis: right? And I feel like growing up, that that was told to me to be well rounded, is what is what it used to how I was raised to consider all aspects right, so don’t don’t. Assume that you can hold that. You know

207
00:29:36.200 –> 00:29:54.279
Megan Mary: everything that there is, cause nobody can. And so just consider everything when you’re considering something. Of course, that was the birthing of my over analytical mind. But it was still a good idea as a good, you know. Baseline to then

208
00:29:54.380 –> 00:30:09.420
Theresa Contaxis: you it gives. Make sure that you’re always considering all perspectives

209
00:30:09.810 –> 00:30:12.389
Theresa Contaxis: I think thats a good sign of the beginning of awakening is when you could sit down and talk to somebody with totally different opinions and be totally okay with it. It doesn’t matter.

210
00:30:12.830 –> 00:30:20.909
Theresa Contaxis: And and what is the bottom line of it. Is it hate? Is it fear? Fear? Hate is fear. Fear is

211
00:30:21.060 –> 00:30:24.770
Theresa Contaxis: hate is born from fear. Or is it love?

212
00:30:25.200 –> 00:30:28.520
Theresa Contaxis: Love that they’re speaking.

213
00:30:29.340 –> 00:30:33.939
Theresa Contaxis: Well. that’s in truth. because it’s who we are.

214
00:30:34.260 –> 00:30:35.210
Megan Mary: Right.

215
00:30:36.420 –> 00:30:51.369
Theresa Contaxis: Okay, I shouldn’t preach anymore. I don’t mean to. I just love. I just love talking about it. Yeah. So so if you had 3 takeaways for the listeners. From this from this discussion, what would they be?

216
00:30:54.720 –> 00:30:55.890
Theresa Contaxis: Choose, love.

217
00:30:58.070 –> 00:31:04.359
Theresa Contaxis: trust your dreams to bring you to your authentic self, because that’s what dreams do

218
00:31:04.410 –> 00:31:10.329
Theresa Contaxis: they help you get to where you need to go, and they’ll also warn you when you need warnings.

219
00:31:11.650 –> 00:31:14.430
Theresa Contaxis: They’re wonderful. And a third one.

220
00:31:17.160 –> 00:31:21.279
Theresa Contaxis: just know that you are loved

221
00:31:21.720 –> 00:31:25.879
Theresa Contaxis: absolutely completely imperfect, and

222
00:31:26.840 –> 00:31:37.590
Theresa Contaxis: not to look. It’s so hard not to judge ourselves. We could be so hard on ourselves. We’re hard on our hey with. We’re harder on ourselves than anybody else could ever be.

223
00:31:39.240 –> 00:31:43.059
Theresa Contaxis: and just know. That’s know thats not how you’re seen

224
00:31:43.360 –> 00:31:46.280
Theresa Contaxis: by spirit. You are loved.

225
00:31:48.360 –> 00:31:56.720
Megan Mary: beautiful messages. I love all 3. Well, thank you so much for being here, Theresa. I really appreciate it.

226
00:31:57.020 –> 00:31:59.290
Theresa Contaxis: I can’t thank you enough for having me.

227
00:31:59.660 –> 00:32:01.740
Megan Mary: and thank you for sharing your book as well.
